Hair Growth Product: How to Choose the Right Treatment

Most men and women will experience some degree of hair loss at some point during their adult lives. It is extremely important to be proactive and address this condition immediately. The best way to do this is to find the right hair growth product. There are so many products to choose from.

At first glance, the pure number of hair loss treatments out there can make it seem overwhelming to choose the right one. This isn’t so. Just do a little research before making a purchase. Learn the what makes an effective hair growth product and the decision on which treatment to choose will be an easy one.

Find out What is Causing the Hair Loss
The first step is to uncover the reason for the hair loss. This will help determine the type of treatment that is needed. Make an appointment with a physician or a licensed dermatologist. There may be a medical reason for the hair loss. A thyroid condition, anemia, hormonal fluctuations, vitamin deficiencies, stress, and a poor diet can all cause the hair to start thinning.

If a medical condition is causing the hair to fall out, treating that condition will likely reverse the hair loss and the hair will grow back. Keep in mind that certain medications can cause excessive shedding of the strands. So be sure to mention any medications or herbal remedies that are being used to the physician.

Vitamin Deficiency
Focus on making dietary changes if the thinning hair is caused by a vitamin deficiency. Be sure to get enough of the vitamin B complex vitamins. Biotin, a derivative of vitamin B, is especially effective in strengthening the strands. All of the B vitamins are good for promoting hair growth.

Male Pattern Baldness
Most hair loss is caused by male (or female) pattern baldness. This type of hair loss is caused by the production of the hormone dihydrotestosterone, which is commonly referred to as DHT. DHT is found in the testicles of men and in the ovaries of women. This type of thinning hair is an inherited trait.

What to look for in a Hair Growth Product
Hair loss treatments that successfully treat male pattern baldness must target the body’s production of DHT. This will the strands that have fallen from the follicles to grow back. Medications such as Minoxidil and Finasterid are medications that block the production of DHT. Saw Palmetto and rosemary are herbal remedies that can have the same effect.

Make Hair Thicker By Using the Right Products

There are some products which can help make hair thicker and fuller. Most of these are natural remedies which provide the hair with the nourishment the strands need in order to grow. This is very important since without proper nutrition, your hair can actually stop growing. This is because when the body does not get enough vitamins and minerals, it is forced to go into what is known as a survival mode. This means the body will use the limited supply of nutrients to sustain the functions which are necessary for survival. Other less important functions, such as growing hair, will stop.

Shampoos Which Can Make Hair Thicker

As you search for products which can make hair thicker, it also makes sense to make the most of the hair you already have. Some shampoos can actually widen the strands, which can make your hair look thicker and fuller.

Good Housekeeping had a team of researchers test a dozen different shampoos. They analyzed their ability to thicken fine and course strands. They also asked for input from some consumers who felt their hair was thinning. The consumers evaluated the products on their effectiveness for thickening, adding volume and smoothing out their hair.

The Full & Thick Collection made by Pantene Pro-V received the highest overall score from consumers because of the way it made their hair look. It came in second place with the researchers, who unanimously agreed this product gives the hair a smoother and softer look.

The shampoo and conditioner made by Nexxus was rated the highest in the hair thickening category. Several consumers reported their hair had more volume, was thicker, and more manageable after using these products. The downside was that the shampoo and conditioner did cause the strands to become a little frizzy.

Nutritional Hair Loss Treatments Which Make Hair Thicker

You can also make hair thicker through proper nutrition. Each strand is made out of protein and fiber. The hair needs protein food sources in order to grow and stay strong. Methylsulfonylmethane helps sustain the protein which makes up the fiber of the hair. You can get this substance from tea, milk, vegetables and coffee, or you can take it as a supplement.
Natural oils are effective hair loss treatments which can make hair thicker.

Neem oil is used by people in various parts of the world to thicken the hair. It consists of nutrients which protect the hair from damage from heat. It also stimulates growth and thickens the strands.

Cherry kernel oil protects the strands from sun exposure by forming a protective coating on the strands. It also contains vitamins A, and E, which stimulate hair growth.
